Institutions that do not want to install the Blackboard Sync Building Block or even allow the Open Access communication to Blackboard Sync may opt out, and block the application for their students.

For institutions which have opted out, Blackboard Sync will display an error message informing the user that the institution has blocked Blackboard Sync. In addition to prohibiting new sync connections, any previously synced data will be deleted from the Blackboard Sync central service and will no longer appear in the Blackboard Learn for the Facebook Platform, Blackboard Learn for the Apple iPhone application or Blackboard Learn Toolbar after the user's next sync.
