Best Practices
  • Discussion groups provide a platform to debate issues, helping students to use higher order skills (application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation) by engaging students in applying theories, distinguishing between facts, evaluating responses of other students, and providing opposing viewpoints.
  • Student support materials included in the online course are very thorough, including readings and papers, downloadable class notes, video support, and links to reputable online sources. These materials allow study activities that prepare the learner for the unit discussions and assignments.
  • The online quizzes offer students an opportunity to measure their progress in the course. Upon completion of each quiz, learners can review their results and learn from their mistakes.
  • Online discussions promote critical thinking and collaborative learning through interactive communication.
